Finding Hearing Protection Ear Plugs

There are good and bad hearing protection ear plugs.  If you need to protect your hearing for any reason, then you will want to buy the best ear plugs you can find.  Don’t settle for anything less because if you lose your hearing, you’ll never get it back.  It will be something that you will have to live with for the rest of your life.  By just taking the time to purchase and use appropriate ear plugs, you will protect your hearing from being forever damaged.

To get the very best noise protecting ear plug, you’ll need to buy one that has a noise reduction rating (NRR) of 33.  For additional protection, you will need to wear a pair of ear muffs at the same time you’re wearing your ear plugs.  Beeswax plugs are not nearly as protective as foam plugs so stay away from them.  There are many manufacturers of high-quality foam ear plugs to choose from so you should be able to find just exactly what you need for hearing protection.

When you are ready to purchase your ear plugs, you can select from many different varieties.  There are disposable poly urethane and PVC foam plugs, moldable silicone, wax plugs and pre-molded silicone rubber plugs and banded ear plugs.  Foam plugs are the most comfortable and softest ear plugs you can buy.  They are rolled into a cylinder and then inserted into your ear.  After insertion, they expand to fit snugly in the ear canal.  Moldable plugs work well for water protection and for “quiet” environments such as while reading or sleeping.  They are not inserted directly into the ear canal but instead form a seal outside the ear canal.  They only offer a small amount of ear protection, however, but are very suitable for small children.  Pre-molded plugs are made out of rubber and, as such, are not very pliable.  The right size must be chosen for them to fit comfortably into the ear.  They can be laundered and worn many times.  Banded plugs are actually adhered to ear bands outside the ear so that they can be easily removed when necessary.  All of the preceding devices are great hearing protection ear plugs and only you can decide which one will work best for you.
